Here are last weeks clues:

This would be the engraved rock at the South Weber Memorial Park.

I didn't do a map this time - you can google it if you really want to know.  I did however find it a little amusing and sad that they are missing their American flag.

Days Like These (a book review)

Maybe you have seen this video and maybe not.  Watch it.

I just finished reading Days Like These by Kristian & Rachel Anderson.  It took me a while to read (like a month and a half) not because I didn't like it but because emotionally I couldn't handle to read more than a little bit at a time.  In the fall of 2009 Kristian Anderson was diagnosed with cancer in his bowel and liver, he was thirty-four years old.  Kristian and his beautiful wife, Rachel, had 2 little boys - both who were under the age of three at the time.  Kristian started a blog to keep his friends and family up to date with his condition and treatments.  Days Like These is that blog plus some things that Rachel added after Kristian passed away.  I feel that while reading this book I learned a lot about chemotherapy and radiation treatments.  I knew what they were before but reading an account that someone made while going through these things is very different.  There are many examples of the faith that Kristian and Rachel had during this time (neither one of them are saints and they say that time and time again) that God would help them with what they were going through.  Kristian references several songs and bible verses throughout his blog and at the end of each entry in the book there is a qr code and a web address so that you can can hear the songs (which is nice because some of the bands are from New Zealand and I had never heard of them).
Kristian reached a point with do gooders (people who mean well but don't express themselves well) during his treatments and came up with this rule for interacting with him and his family:
When you come to me or my family, there is now a dress code in effect.  Come to us wearing Faith and Hope, and you will be warmly welcomed.  Come to us wearing Fear and Doubt, and you will politely be asked to leave.  This dress code will be strictly enforced.  No  expectations.

I liked that.  It is true.  My uncle Bruce was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer last fall and being positive and faithful that things will work out how they are supposed to is really the best thing anyone can do (though that is VERY hard sometimes).

I really enjoyed reading this book because it is a first hand account from someone who actually battled with cancer.  Kristian shares his ups & downs and his hopes & fears holding nothing back with great honesty:
People talk of lives being touched by cancer.  My life wasn't "touched"; it was assaulted.  I'm being held up at gunpoint, and I'm pissed about it too.  But I will never let cancer see fear or intimidation in my eyes.  The harder it fights me, the harder I fight back.  I have everything to lose, and that fact alone makes me incredibly dangerous.  So many times people associate cancer with death, and while that is the case for many people, it is not the case here.  Cancer is most definitely inconvenient.  It is most definitely an intrusion into our lives.  It is something I would not wish on my worst enemy, but while it is here, there are good things to be taken from it.  Genesis 50:20 (MSG) records these words:  "Don't you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now -- life for many people."  I have an opportunity in front of me that most people rarely get.  I have the opportunity to reclaim life from a place where there is usually death.  That makes me one of the luckiest people on the planet.
I guess that another reason that I read the book slowly is that I thought maybe if I read it slowly or don't finish it then Kristian won't die in the end.  It is silly I know but I think we have all read fiction books that we have done this with.  I really enjoyed reading Kristian and Rachel's story.  I loved reading about the AMAZING love that they had and have for each other.  You should read this book too.  If you live close I will even let you borrow it.

Zondervan sent me the above book for review purposes. It will allow me to keep the book. I have no other connection to and have received no other compensation from Zondervan.

I couldn't decide which picture to use for today's clue so you get two.

www v3p2: the answer

So did you make a guess this time?  Last weeks clue was this picture:

This is the "roof" or "ceiling" (not sure those terms really apply or not of this pretty thing in the Fragrance Garden at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah.  The Fragrance Garden is pretty neat.  Most of the flower beds are elevated to make it easier to smell the flowers.  The Thanksgiving Point Gardens have a ten dollar admission fee - that is more than worth paying ^^

Do you know what it would be called?  Because I am not exactly sure on that.

So were you any where close on your guess?

winner winner chicken dinner!

ok there really isn't a chicken dinner but I do have a winner for the my memories suite v4 giveaway!  After deleting the non-qualifying entries (my replies and some comments that just said I want to enter {sorry there were instructions that needed to be followed in order to enter - these instructions were given to me by my memories}) there were 11 comments (not as many as I thought there would be - especially considering how many people went to that blog post ^^).  I went to random.org and here are the results:

Comment number 9 is from Peggy:

She likes the colors of spring kit.  Last night was a warm 32 degrees so this kit looks nice to me too!
it can be found here

I wish I could give all of you a copy of the software.  Maybe next time ^^

www v3p1 answer

The answer to last weeks what where wednesday is:

This would be the WWI and WWII memorial in the Ogden City Cemetery.  We spent about an hour in the cemetery as I looked around and read the headstones by the memorial.  I would really like to clean off all of the markers here and pick up the trash.  Maybe next week I will take some supplies and clean it up.

The description of the cemetery on the city's website make me chuckle a little:
Established in 1851 as part of Ogden City Charter, Ogden City provides for the burial of humans in the Ogden City Cemetery and for the burial of pets in the Tiffany Mack Memorial Pet Cemetery. Cemetery grounds are maintained according to perpetual care provisions, and cemetery records are available online for public access.
They do have a nice cemetery records listing on their website though.

You just type in one of the things and submit then it brings up all the possible choices.  In the photo above I have entered "newlin" as the deceased's last name (as that is the only person that I know who is buried in the Ogden City Cemetery).  Then you click submit and the results come up.

It is kinda hard to see in the above picture but it gives you the results and the location.  If you can tell the location is a link.  When you click on it it will bring up a map.

Pretty neat, huh?  Makes it really easy to find people.  It would be really cool if you could search by death date also but sadly you can't.
